NRMC Earns 4-Star Rating

2/5/2018

Nevada Regional Medical Center recently earned a 4-star rating on Hospital Compare, a website operated by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).  This rating is updated quarterly and is a reflection of improved survey ratings as compared to other hospitals.

NRMC earned higher percentages than state and national averages in the following survey of patient experiences:

Patients who reported that they "Always" received help as soon as they wanted.”

“Patients who reported that their room and bathroom were "Always" clean.”

“Patients who reported that the area around their room was "Always" quiet at night.”

Hospital Compare, operated by The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), has information about the quality of care at over 4,000 Medicare-certified hospitals across the country. The website can be used to find hospitals and compare the quality of their care.

CMS, along with key stakeholders, developed the star rating system to provide consumers with a simple overall rating generated by combining multiple dimensions of quality into a single summary score. The overall rating ranges from one to five stars. The more stars, the better a hospital performed on the available quality measures. The most common overall rating is 3 stars.

According to Hospital Compare, the overall rating summarizes up to 57 quality measures reflecting common conditions that hospitals treat, such as heart attacks or pneumonia. The overall rating shows how well each hospital performed, on average, compared to other hospitals in the U.S.

Although you should go to the nearest hospital in the event of an emergency, data comparisons like those on Hospital Compare can be useful to help you plan where to go for healthcare.
