NRMC Adds Physicians to Specialty Clinic
Nevada Regional Medical Center (NRMC) announces the addition of two physicians to the NRMC Specialty Clinic at 800 S. Ash Street. Atman Shah, MD is an oncologist and hematologist. Grant Pierson, DO, a Nevada native, is a pulmonology and sleep medicine specialist.
“Dr. Shah and Dr. Pierson are young, intelligent, hardworking doctors,” said Steve Branstetter, Chief Executive Officer at NRMC. “They are a welcome addition to our Specialty Clinic and another way we can serve our community, offering high quality services locally so they don’t have to travel.”
Dr. Shah was born in and grew up in Michigan and then California before moving with his parents to India during his teen years. He completed his second undergraduate degree at Michigan State University. He completed medical school at Ross University in Dominica and his residency at Florida State University. He then completed a medical oncology fellowship at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas.
Dr. Shah has been working at Freeman Health System in the Freeman Cancer Institute in Joplin, Mo since July of 2013. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and other benign and malignant tumors. He currently visits the NRMC Specialty Clinic twice a month, where he provides many types of infusions and cancer treatments.
“I see newly diagnosed cancers as my number one priority,” says Dr. Shah. “The main reason I’m here is to have a satellite clinic here in Nevada so patients can avoid having to go to a bigger city just to have an initial consultation.”
Dr. Pierson earned his undergraduate degree from Pittsburg State University. He completed medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. His residency in internal medicine was completed at St. John Medical Center in Westlake, Oh. He completed his first fellowship in pulmonary critical care medicine at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, Co and his second fellowship in sleep medicine at University of Kansas Medical Center.
Dr. Pierson specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the lungs and respiratory system as well as sleep disorders. In addition to seeing patients at NRMC twice a month, he also works at Freeman Health System and Lake Regional Medical Center. Dr. Pierson is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine.
